Well, the playoffs are in full swing… and we’re already just about finished with the first round! Crazy, huh? Time sure is flying.
We open our show today with the latest from the Western Conference. After sweeping the Ducks, the San Jose Sharks head over to Las Vegas to square off against the Golden Knights… who have also been resting up after bulldozing the Kings in their first round matchup. So who has the edge between these two? Scott and Chris break it all down, and give you their picks. Also, the Winnipeg Jets are headed down to Nashville to faceoff with the Preds, for a series that should be nothing short of BRUTAL! Who will survive this showdown… and could we see one of these two two teams going on to the Stanley Cup?
During the second round, we tackle the Eastern Conference. After falling behind early in this series, the Toronto Maple Leafs have come storming back to tie things up with the Boston Bruins, and force a game 7. The winner moves on to play Tampa Bay in the next round. Find out who we think it will be. And after a battling back against the Blue Jackets, the Washington Capitals have moved on to the second round to face the Pittsburgh Penguins for the 3rd time in as many years. Will the third time finally be a charm for the Caps…. or are we looking at another victory for the Pens, who are in pursuit of the three-peat?
We close out our show with a look at the Crosby-Ovechkin rivalry, and what it means to the sport of hockey. The league has certainly done their best to ensure that we see this marquee matchup year after year… and after switching up the format of the playoffs (back in 2014), they certainly seem to have found the formula to keep the magic going. But is it good for the rest of the league? Have other teams gotten lost in the shuffle… and would it have been better to just keep things as they were?
We also talk about coach Bill Peters, and his move from Carolina to Calgary. What does this mean to both the Hurricanes and the Flames?
